New Card Template - Flower Card and Layering Template 6

Posted on August 4, 2011 at 8:15 AM

If you are like me, you have a basket overflowing with bits of paper in all colours, shapes and patterns. These are offcuts from my various projects but I really can't bring myself to throw them away. I am always delighted to find a use for them and if you are also looking for a way to use up your papers, then this might be just the job!

The sixth template in our series of Layered Flower Cards, lends itself beautifully to patterned papers. Like all the other templates, you get the full card size, three smaller cards and a page of flowers for layering.  Earlier demos have used lots of layers to get lovely full looking flowers but this one really looks best when you use two or three flowers layered up and make the flowers in different sizes.

For my flowers, I have used co-ordinating papers in pinks and added a button for the centres. The leaves are handcut. The flowers are mounted on a piece of gingham paper and pink card and on a square cream card blank. A stick on wooden dragonfly completes the scene. This might be a nice card to make for a young friend or relative. Please leave any comments below!

Thanks Carol. The dragonfly just came in a packet from the craft store. You can get bees and other things too. It is a chunky thing so I wasn't sure about using it on the card but I thought it kind of went with the style and look of the rest of the things on it, so i could get away with it!

Thanks Marion. I still love to make pretty pastel cards, as well as doing the vintage or distressed thing. I guess, it all depends who you are making things for!

This card is sooo... sweet. You could give it to many different age groups. I love how you can use up some of your scrap papers as well.
