Back at last

Posted by Imy on November 11, 2015 at 9:35 AM Comments comments (3)

Apologies for the long break in writing on the blog. This year has been a challenging one yet again and it has been difficult to get down to posting projects with the everyday issues of life getting in the way. Lots of projects have been made but not posted but I realised that if I was going to get any Christmas projects done, I would have to get going on them and post them up to the blog. So if like me, you have not yet got going on your Christmas projects, drop by and have a look over the next few weeks!

New Members Goodies Coming Soon

Posted by Imy on May 14, 2015 at 10:05 AM Comments comments (1)

Just to say that we will be posting another Member template very soon. I just want to test it and do a few demos before posting, so it will probably next week!

Flower Fancies Template

Posted by Imy on May 11, 2015 at 2:45 PM Comments comments (0)

Big apologies for the delay with updating the blog but life as ever has overtaken events. With one child bouncing off a trampoline and injuring a foot, to another going through important exams, let alone all kinds of other issues with other close family members, I am feeling stretched in all directions at the moment and completely run off my feet!

I have managed to do a few demo projects featuring the new Flower Fancies Template. You can get one of the four flower designs included on the template to try out on the Member Pages.

Watch for the next blog post, where I will be putting the demo project photos and some project notes.

Site Updates and Other Stuff

Posted by Imy on May 3, 2015 at 5:45 PM Comments comments (0)

We have been very busy spring cleaning the site recently so here are a few updates.

  • The blog posts have now all been categorised according to two year blocks, which should make them a bit easier to find. Don't forget you can use the search tool to look for keywords, if you are looking for anything in particular.

  • Quite a few of the links on the menu bar were not working, so hopefully they are all fixed up now. This is irritating if you are browsing the website, particularly if you are using an IPad or tablet, as the sub-menus don't show up, so links are really important to find posts. Big apologies for that. Please let me know if there are links that are down so we can fix them.

  • Also, all the Printable sheets for Members have not been available for quite a while (could have been a few months), as again the link was directing to the wrong page. The Members printables page has been set up again and you can find the links to lots of  printable files on the left hand menu bar, under the Members Tab.

  • The Project Notes pages are the archive for the blog posts and should contain all the projects featured on the site. There are a few projects missing, so these will be updated in the next few weeks.

We have had lots of new members (hundreds in fact) who will have missed those links, so if you have signed up in the last few months, please do visit the Member's Printable pages to get the files.

Message Board is back

Posted by Imy on April 28, 2015 at 12:00 PM Comments comments (0)

Those of you who have visited this site over the years, will have noticed how the Members Forum/Message Board feature has come and gone at various times. As my dear hubby says 'it's been up and down like a t**t's knickers'. I can only apologise for his crudeness but he has a point! :)

The reason for this is that it takes a lot of time and effort to keep checking up and responding to posts, without email alerts to new postings. We get around to responding but it doesn't happen instantly!

We have had a lot of new people signing up as Members to the site this year and it is very difficult to communicate with everyone. We also get questions on all kinds of things via the contact form, some of which we can answer and some we can't. There is is bound to be someone out there that can though, so maybe the Message Board would be a good place for that to happen.

Also lots of you have posted lovely comments on your profiles and it would be nice if Members could have the chance to communicate with others via the Message Board. Some people do just sign up, pay us a whirlwind visit and never come back but sometimes people want a cosy place to stay and mix with others.

There are lots of sites out there on the internet to visit but I would like this site to become a welcome place to 'take a break' and for people to come back from time to time. We don't profess to be 'any great shakes' but I hope that those who sign up feel that they are very welcome here and that we love to hear from everyone who visits, no matter how long or short they stay!

So, with these points in mind I have decided to put it back up again, with a view for people to post general comments and for others to respond, as they wish. Members can meet there if they wish. I have no idea how it will work out, as the success really depends on the input of Members but let's give it a go shall we!

Bear With Us!

Posted by Imy on April 28, 2015 at 10:30 AM Comments comments (0)

We are reclassifying the blog posts, so they are in a bit of a mess at the moment. Bear with us, as it will take some time but will make more sense to be able to look past posts up by years. We should have finished this by the end of next week.

Thank You!

Posted by Imy on April 28, 2015 at 8:00 AM Comments comments (2)

I wanted to say thank you in a very public way to a very, very special member of this site. She might be very cross when she sees this but I really hope not. She has a good sense of humour, so I'm sure I will get away with it! :D

The other day I received a mystery package and opened it to find a most beautiful handmade journal. To say I was blown away would be an understatement. I wanted to post some photos of this gorgeous creation but she may not be happy for me to do that, so I will wait to get the go ahead to do so before I do!

Marion has followed this site and been such a supportive person, I truly am very, very grateful for all her input. She has commented on blog posts, made some stunning chipboard projects and cards using the templates and uploaded lots of photos to the Member's Gallery in the Photo Album.

Marion is not just a Member, I view her as a dear friend and even though we have never met, she is a special person and I value her contribution greatly. Thank you Marion for your beautiful journal and for your continued support of the site. People like you make all the effort worthwhile!

Update. Still here!

Posted by Imy on April 22, 2015 at 3:35 AM Comments comments (0)

Just a quick post to say although it has gone a bit quiet, I'm still here, just bogged down with all kinds of life issues at the moment.

I was quite blown away to see that the number of site members has gone over the 3000! That certainly crept up on me. Many people join up for a bit, some revisit lots of times and some drop in from time to time. So thank you to all who have joined the site. I hope you have enjoyed your time here.

There will be a small template coming soon for Members, I am just trying to work up a demo, so I can post some pictures.

I am also trying to get back to updating the Facebook page, so there will be uploads of project photos since Christmas posted there soon too.

There are plenty of ideas in the pipeline as well, some of which I am quite excited about. More about that later!

Don't forget that if you are looking for some inspiration for Mother's Day, just visit our Member pages for lots of projects, as well as the photo gallery of course! If you don't want to join up, just scroll back through the blog posts, as all our projects are featured there too.

One final thought, I keep wondering whether to bring back the forum, it has come and gone in the past. The problem is keeping up with the posts, as it takes a lot of time to manage a forum as well as a website, so I might post up a quick survey to get peoples thoughts on that. I certainly get lots of questions and sometimes end up answering them multiple times, so it is a good way to post questions.

Anyway, that is it for now with this quick update.

Happy Crafting!!

Mini Envelope Template

Posted by Imy on February 11, 2015 at 3:25 AM Comments comments (0)

Those of you who have read the blog post on making the Exploding Box, from our new template, will have noticed that the second box, in a black and gold theme, contained a mini envelope in the middle. You can use a punch or die to make a mini envelope or why not visit the Member's pages, to find a Mini Envelope Template in four sizes! We'll be posting another quick project, using these mini envelopes in the next blog post, so drop by again soon!

Going Backwards In Time!

Posted by Imy on February 9, 2015 at 8:45 AM Comments comments (0)

Here at Mementoes In Time, we are clearly going backwards in time! All the photos posted over the last week or so seem to be labelled as 2014. As much as I would like to blame some other supernatural forces at work on this site, unfortunately, this is 100% user error, so big apologies for that. I'm sure most of you reading this, would have worked it out anyway but instead of going back to change them all, I'm just coming clean on the blog!

Welcome to new members!

Posted by Imy on February 6, 2015 at 4:05 AM Comments comments (6)

A big welcome to all the new members we have had joining up to the site over the last few months. We used to welcome each one of you with an individual message but unfortunately, this takes up so much time, that this had to be suspended for the time being! Rather than send a standard email to everyone, I would like to welcome you all here!

Not so much Facebook!

Posted by Imy on February 6, 2015 at 3:55 AM Comments comments (0)

We have been mulling things over and while we do have a Facebook presence, it hasn't really done us many favours as a site. People follow us and read our blog posts there and then often won't come to visit the website. The website is our spiritual 'home' and where this blog started, so we like to have visitors here rather than Facebook. For this reason, we have decided to continue to update the Facebook page but not as regularly as we update the site, as we want people to come to our 'place' and not just a quick visit on Facebook. We remain committed to this website having just renewed the site fees, so would prefer to target most of our efforts here. I hope that our visitors can understand and support this! :)

Spectrum Aqua Pens Arrived!

Posted by Imy on February 5, 2015 at 9:50 AM Comments comments (0)

Very exciting, my Spectrum Aqua Pens have arrived at last! Still missing one pack but this should be enough to get on with for now. These pens are new out and everybody wants them. They are fantastic for getting a lovely but vibrant watercolour effect but with a pen, instead of messing about with pencils, crayons or paints. I'll be testing these out with our digital images over the next few weeks and posting up the results. I think they will be great!

PS Please note that all photos are date stamped as 2014, which should be 2015!

Vintage Backing Papers - Moving to the Free Stuff Pages!

Posted by Imy on February 5, 2015 at 9:30 AM Comments comments (1)

We did say that some of our files would be moving to the Free Stuff pages. This is part of a redesign of the site. As you know we do ask for a small donation for some of our templates, so that we can pay the site fees and keep the site advert free but we do offer lots free too.

We don't ask for much back, just for visitors to add a comment or thank you below the blog posts and to upload any projects to the Members Gallery. This is because we really believe in sharing things where possible, even though plenty of others out there do not!

Having said that, we do have a Donation button on the right hand side bar, so even if you don't want any templates but would like to give something back as a thank you, then you can!

Anyway, first up is a huge set of lovely coloured Vintage style backing papers. These papers have been designed to work with our Apron Template amongst other projects but files, just like people, need to retire sometime!

With 28 pages in all, we are sure you will find some of them useful to use. Visit the Free Stuff pages to find them. We will be adding files over the next few weeks, so drop by again if you would like to see those.

Please comment below this post, if you would like to post your thanks or anything else for that matter, as we love to hear from you!

Sale on Templates

Posted by Imy on February 3, 2015 at 9:05 AM Comments comments (1)

SALE - All templates up to 50% off

All the templates on our site have been reduced in price, most of them are now half price, so if there was a template you were thinking of getting then now is the time!

The prices shown are the reduced prices, with many templates now only $1. There will be some items moving over to the Free Stuff pages too over the next few weeks, as we spring clean the site, so stop by again soon if you want to pick those up.

Please note these are suggested donations so as we are a not for profit site, so if you would prefer to use the donate button and send us a request for the items you want, you can do that too.

Big Apologies to New Members

Posted by Imy on January 31, 2015 at 11:05 AM Comments comments (0)

A huge apology to people who have tried to join up to the site over the last month and a half. Unfortunately, we have only just discovered that the Automatic Acceptance on the members application was switched off. No idea how that happened! I can only assume it was something that the site provider did. Anyway, this has meant that any new members have been waiting for ages to get their site applications approved and for that we are truly sorry. I hope you enjoy browsing the site and watch out for some rather belated Valentines Day projects being posted soon!

Christmas Countdown Competition

Posted by Imy on November 13, 2014 at 1:15 PM Comments comments (0)

I think it is nice to end the year with a competition, so here is a small one that is easy to enter and is open to all.  All you have to do is submit a photo of your project, which can be anything you like but on the theme of Christmas. So you can choose a card, a chipboard project, a scrapbook or any other paper craft. The competition will be open until the end of the year, so you have heaps of time!

Prize - choose from either:

  • $15 voucher to spend on any items on the site
  • A lucky dip prize item shipped to your address

Depending on the number of entries we have, there will be five prize packs up for grabs.

How to enter:

You can submit your photo in a few different ways:

  • upload a photo of your project to the Members Wall of Fame. Sign into the site as normal and then go to the Photo Album and click the 'Add Photo' button. Follow the very simple instructions. Mark your photo Christmas Countdown.

  • add a link to your project in the comments at the bottom of this post or on our Facebook fan page - this is the easiest way if you have your project on another blog or site.
  • send your photo to us by email to ''

Your lucky dip prize will be chosen from a range of papercraft items, which may include stamps, embossing folders, papercraft embellishments, die cuts to name a few. The value of this prize will be approximately $10 after taking into account shipping costs to your location.
