Scrap Square Cards - 24 Days of Christmas

Posted on December 2, 2012 at 8:40 PM

I don't know about you, but I'm always looking for ways to use up scraps of paper. I have lots of bags of odd pieces, which I have sorted into different colours, so I can go straight to the one I want. Every now and again, I like to weed through them and try and use them up, as I am always adding and therefore needing to find room for new pieces.

This simple card idea is a great one for using up those scrap pieces and you could adapt this for any occasion, not just as a Christmas card.

To make your card, just cut up squares of paper or card, (you can either go for one colour or co-ordinating ones) and fix them in a square pattern. I've cut mine at 4cm square but this did create a card a bit larger than I wanted, so maybe try 3cm squares, if you have a smaller blank. Finish off with a festive message, mounted on some co-ordinating card.

This a great card for setting up as a production line, if you have lots of cards to make. Just cut up lots of squares of paper in 9 different designs and separate them into piles. You can then decide on the sequence that you want on the front of your card and put the piles into the same order. This makes it very easy and quick to make up each card, as you just have to pick up one of each piece and fix to your card, copying the design as you go.

You can even create very simple matching gift tags and then just add a piece of cord or glitter glue to give them a little 'lift'. Why not upload your photos to our '24 Days of Christmas' Photo Gallery. We love to see your creations. Visit again soon, on the next blog, we will have a freebie to download.

Happy Crafting!

Thanks Marion. I have heaps of scraps to use up, so I churned out stacks of these. I've made some nice ones in purple, blue and white too, which I haven't got around to posting yet. I love simple things! Hope all your projects are going well btw :0)
